Dear Andrew Sibbald Families,
On behalf of our staff, we want to wish you a lovely Easter weekend in advance. There is no school for students or staff on Friday, due to Good Friday, and our teachers and support staff will be engaged in CBE System learning on Monday, April 21st. This professional learning day allows for teachers and support staff to engage in a wide range of learning sessions with colleagues across the CBE.
More Exciting Learning Happening this Week
It’s another exciting and busy week ahead. Our Grade 3 students, teachers and parent volunteers will be heading off to Drumheller, AB for the day on Tuesday to engage in some learning at the Royal Tyrell Museum. Thank you to Mrs. Braun and Mrs. Swanson for organizing this for the students. We are also looking forward to welcoming parents from Grade 2 and our Tues/Thurs Kindergarten class on Thursday morning at 9:30 for a Celebration of Learning. Parents, we will open the doors at 9:15 to give you lots of time to find a seat in the gym before the assembly starts. Our Grade 4 classes look forward to engaging in their science workshops this week as well. Once again, thank you to the Andrew Sibbald Parent Association for covering the cost of this programming for all students. Lastly, we look forward to connecting with our Grade 5 parents on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. inside our learning commons to share information around Outdoor School.
Thank You for Your Engagement
Parents and guardians, thank you for sharing your thoughts and feedback with us around our 2025-26 school planning. Please see our website here for more information and results.
Thank you, also, to the parents who were able to join us for our School Council and Parent Association meetings last Wednesday. The teacher reports shared are always a highlight. Thank you to our Gr. 1 and Gr. 2 teaching teams for sharing student learning examples around our School Development Plan goal in writing and the Calgary Campus Open Minds program.
Student Voice Update
Our Grades 4 & 5 Student Voice group has just finished their latest project around supporting animal adoptions for AARCS. After raising funds through their bake sale, students researched different animals up for adoption, wrote brief descriptions about them and then drew their animal’s portrait. These animal profiles will be shared along with the cheque to AARCS this week. Stay tuned for this group’s next undertaking! All ideas are generated by students and their leadership and creativity are unwavering. Members of our Student Voice group are also showing leadership around our school by helping with technology and learning commons organization, organizing lunchtime Intramurals, planting, and growing herbs, organizing various clubs including Gr. 4 Book Club and K-5 Craft Club. We are proud of their leadership!
Parent Association Fundraisers – last week to order plants
Spring is here! Our Parent Association is hosting a spring plant fundraiser through Growing Smiles. This is the last week to place orders. Please see the flyer to order.
Pedalheads is offering $25 off all Spring and Summer registrations for Andrew Sibbald families, and $25 donation for our Parent Association. Please see the flyer here.
The proceeds of these fundraisers will be put towards the purchase of new Learning Commons furniture for our school in the fall of 2025. Thank you for your support!
