Dear Andrew Sibbald Families,
We hope this message finds you and your families well at this busy time. Once again, thank you for all your donations for Warm Feet, Warm Hearts. Mrs. Braun's class did a great job organizing and all our students worked hard and had a lot of fun “stuffing" hundreds of zip lock bags for the clients at the DI Center. Our Mon/Wed kindergarten students will have a chance to do this with Ms. Hatchette and their buddies this week. Thanks to the volunteers who helped with this event!
2024-2025 Update
Parents and guardians received an email from CBE last Thursday outlining information around our grade configuration change for the 2024-2025 school year, to accommodate the growing number of students and families served by CBE. Mr. Flaman and I have begun thoughtful transition planning for our Grade 5 and Grade 6 students who will enter Nickle School next year. All our current Grade 5 and Grade 6 families will have a chance to attend an information session in March 2024 and students will have an opportunity to visit Nickle School in the Spring. This year will be different in that we also get to celebrate the accomplishments of all our Grade 5 and Grade 6 students in June. Parents, we will keep you updated, as more information comes available.
Registering for Kindergarten
Our school will continue to offer alternating full-day kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year as this ensures students travelling by bus have transportation to and from school. Children must be at least five years old as of Dec. 31, 2024, to start kindergarten in fall 2024. Registration opens Jan. 15, 2024. Please see here for more information.
Offsite Learning Opportunities this Week
Thanks in advance to our parent volunteers who will assist Ms. Chen's Gr. 5 class throughout the week at City Hall School and to those of you who will be assisting during the Gr. 4 field trip to Fort Calgary.
Winter Concert Update
Parents, your kids are amazing! Ms. Harris is also doing an amazing job finalizing the performances with students. We are so proud of their learning and engagement and can't wait to celebrate with you. Mrs. Dupuis has been busy organizing requests for extra tickets. Thanks for all your communication around this. Reminder – there are no tickets required for afternoon performances.
Student Voice Update
This year we have approximately 40 Gr. 5 and 6 students who have joined Student Voice, a lunchtime club that meets weekly. The students have been busy with lots of different initiatives and leadership opportunities. They have organized a Spirit Week for the last week of school before the break:
