Dear Andrew Sibbald Families,
In this final week of the school year for 2024, we want to take a moment to thank you for your support in helping our school community. Whether it’s been through helping your child adjust to a new school community, a new classroom community, volunteering, attending School Council Meetings, donating items for The Mustard Seed, attending the Halloween Dance or supporting one of our school’s fundraisers, thank you!
Report Cards - Upcoming
We hope that viewing the classroom blogs, seeing your child’s take-home folders, and communicating with your child’s teacher has kept you informed around their learning progress this fall. We will be sharing formal assessment of your child’s learning through the report card at the end of January. This report card reflects learning outcomes taught between September – January.
Student Learning Showcase – The Magic of a Winter’s Yet
An excellent example of your child’s learning over the past few months in Music that will be showcased this week during our Winter Concerts is their creation of, “The Magic of a Winter’s Yet.” Students have written a fun and playful performance with Ms. Harris. They have had voice around each classroom’s script, props and song creations and can’t wait to share with you!
Last Minute Reminders
All extra tickets have gone home with your child. Please reach out to andrewsibbald@cbe.ab.ca, if you have any questions.
Doors will open at 12:30 pm on Tuesday & Wednesday afternoon (no tickets required for the dress rehearsal) and at 5:30 pm for the evening performances. Students will go directly to their classrooms & choir members not performing with their classes will go to a designated area with a teacher.
Students will be picked up at the end of the performance (each is about 45 minutes) inside their classrooms. Choir members will also be picked up at the end of the performance in their designated location (you will be directed).
Thank you!
It’s Time to Cook with Student Voice! Recipe Book Sales this Week
Our Student Voice recipe books will be for sale by donation ($5.00 minimum) this week. Please bring cash to purchase yours inside our school gymnasium while we wait for the Winter Concerts to begin. There will be a table set up with Student Voice members before each performance. Because we have a limited number, we will be limiting copies to one per household. In January, all proceeds will be donated to The Mustard Seed and a copy of the recipe book will be given to the Mustard Seed’s Chef (this was a request of students). Thank you so much for your support around this!
Andrew Sibbald Swag – Hoodies & T-shirts
It’s been awesome to see students and staff wearing their new school spirit gear! Once again, we’d like to thank Caitlin from Matte Black Design Studio for supporting this one-time fundraiser for the 2024-2025 school year.
Lost & Found Items
Please check out our lost and found this week. We’ll have tables set up so you can have a look through while inside our school. Thank you to all who have written your children’s names on their belongings. It’s very helpful!
School Spirit Week
The week of December 16 - 20th is Spirit Week at Andrew Sibbald School. Our Student Voice group has organized five fun and festive days for our students!
Monday - Dress like your favourite holiday character
Tuesday - Silly Sweater Day (Wear any fun, silly, or cozy sweater).
Wednesday - Dress to Impress Day (Dress up in your best clothes that make you feel great!)
Thursday - Festive Hat and Hair Day (Wear a festive hat, reindeer antlers, fun hairdos, etc.)
Friday - Pyjama Day (Wear your school appropriate pjs and bring a stuffy if you like. Stuffies should be no bigger than your backpack.)
Lastly, on behalf of our staff, we wish you all a lovely holiday ahead! Whether your family celebrates a formal holiday like Hannukah or Christmas, we hope time together over the Winter Break is both joyful and restful. We look forward to seeing students back on January 6th.
