Dear Andrew Sibbald Families,
As we enter the final week of school for the 2023 school year, on behalf of our staff, thank you for all that you do to help make Sibbald a wonderful place to be. We appreciate your engagement, volunteering, kindness, and support but most importantly, your amazing kids!
Enjoy the holiday ahead. We hope it’s full of whatever brings you and your family joy and rejuvenation. Thanks to those of you who have been sharing your traditions with your child’s teacher and classrooms. We have enjoyed learning about our families and what makes this time special for you.
We look forward to welcoming students back on January 8th, 2024.
City Hall School Wraps Up
Huge thanks to Ms. Chen and the parent volunteers who supported the learning our Gr. 5 students engaged in with City Hall School last week. Please see the documentation Ms. Chen completed to learn more about this learning experience.
Light Up the Season – Winter Concert This Week
Parents, thanks for joining us to celebrate student learning in Music in our school’s winter concerts Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. We know it’s a busy time of year for families! Here are some final reminders:
Doors open at 5:30 – parents go to the gym, students go to their classrooms
Concerts begin at 6:00
All students (including choir) are picked up from classrooms at the end of the concert (6:45ish); no students will be dismissed before the end of the concert
Afternoon dress rehearsals begin at 1:00. Doors will open at 12:45
Tickets are required for evening performances
Choir members not performing with their classrooms in the evening concerts need to be dropped off for 5:30 and picked up at 6:45
Thank you again to Ms. Harris, our student choir and student voice leadership students for their work and organization! And thank you to all our students for their contributions to our winter concert, including the creation of their beautiful artwork.

2024-2025 Update
Parents and guardians received an email from CBE last Thursday outlining information around our grade configuration change for the 2024-2025 school year, to accommodate the growing number of students and families served by CBE. Mr. Flaman and I have begun thoughtful transition planning for our Grade 5 and Grade 6 students who will enter Nickle School next year. All our current Grade 5 and Grade 6 families will have a chance to attend an information session in March 2024 and students will have an opportunity to visit Nickle School in the Spring. This year will be different in that we also get to celebrate the accomplishments of all our Grade 5 and Grade 6 students in June. Parents, we will keep you updated, as more information comes available.
Registering for Kindergarten
Our school will continue to offer alternating full-day kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year as this ensures students travelling by bus have transportation to and from school. Children must be at least five years old as of Dec. 31, 2024, to start kindergarten in fall 2024. Registration opens Jan. 15, 2024. Please see here for more information.
