Monday Message – February 26^th  

Dear Andrew Sibbald families,  

Thank you to the families who participated in our Spirit Day last week. It was a lot of fun to see some great beach wear represented at Sibbald. This week, on Wednesday, we look forward to celebrating Pink Shirt Day. Here’s a short video about the purpose of Pink Shirt Day if it is new to you or your family.  If your child doesn’t have a pink shirt, that’s okay, they can wear red or something else that is pink.  

Thank you to our Gr. 5 and Gr. 6 Student Voice members who are organizing a special bake sale on Wednesday the 28^th in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association. Reminder, if your child is part of Student Voice and you wish to donate to their bake sale, please send it on the 27th or first thing on the 28th. Thank you! All items will be sold for $1.00 or $2.00 so please send along a loonie or a toonie if on Wednesday if you would like your child to purchase a treat. Please note that we won’t be able to make change for large bills. Thank you for your understanding.  

Lastly, we are super excited and proud of some of our other Student Voice members who are organizing the creation of a kindness needle-felted quilt. All our students will be contributing to it in some way with buddy classes. Stay tuned! 

Puppet residency celebrations of learning  

On Pink Shirt Day, our Grade 1, 2, and 3 students will be sharing some of the learning that they have completed through the puppet residency around building student’s emotional literacy and developing voice for communicating feelings. This learning is anchored in our Wellness outcomes through the New Curriculum. These presentations will be short and will take place in the Music Room. Parents are invited to come a few minutes before their child’s class begins and then head out so the next group can prepare.
