Monday Message: February 12, 2024

Dear Andrew Sibbald Families,

Happy Chinese New Year, Xin Nian Kuai Le, to all those who celebrated on Saturday! We wish you all a year of prosperity and good health ahead.

School Council Update & School Planning

Thanks to the parents who joined us in person last Wednesday evening at our Council meeting. This is the time of year when we formally gather parent feedback on our School Development Plan goals in Literacy, Mathematics and Wellbeing. We also gather feedback from families on our Andrew Sibbald School Fees. School fees are different than CBE System fees (lunchroom supervision, bussing, and the instructional materials fee paid at the start of the school year). School fees are those charged to parents for learning experiences and enhancements to the classroom (field trips, artist in residence, athletic residencies, guest speakers etc.) Please complete this survey before February 25th. Thank you in advance for sharing your voice!

On behalf of Parent Association - Save the Date – Special Parent Association Meeting

Members of Andrew Sibbald Parent Association will have a special meeting on March 4th at 6:30 pm at Brewsters Restaurant in Lake Bonavista Promenade to review edited Bylaws for the Association. An email with the edited bylaws and more information will be emailed directly.

Puppet Residency Continues

It’s been a lot of fun to see the ways in which our Grade Teams are taking up the puppet residency with their students. Thank you to the parents who have joined to volunteer around this learning. Teachers look forward to highlighting some of the purpose and process of learning with families in the coming weeks and students look forward to sharing their creations too! Here’s just one example of the book, “ The Color Monster” which has inspired students’ emotional literacy and puppet making.

Choir Update from Ms. Harris

I am excited to work with Choir Students again this term.  Any new and returning students in Grade 3-6 are welcome to join us in the music room on Tuesday, February 13 at lunch.

Support Staff, Teachers’ Convention & Family Day

Our teachers and support staff look forward to the upcoming conventions this week held on Thursday, February 15th and February 16th. This is a time for teachers and support staff to connect with and learn from each other about a wide range of topics and experiences. Due to this professional learning, there is no school for students on Thursday or Friday this week.

On behalf of our staff, we all wish you a wonderful Family Day holiday and we look forward to seeing students back on February 20th.
