Dear Andrew Sibbald Families,
Happy Family Day weekend!
Thank you to the parents who joined us for the School Council Meeting last week. We are grateful to our Grades 3 and 5 teachers for sharing some awesome science student learning updates. Mr. Newman and I shared some information around how our School Development plan is guiding the learning of both students and teachers this year. Our SDP is focused on literacy (writing) and mathematics (procedural fluency). You can read more here.
Please join us on March 12th for our next meeting. We will be gathering parent input around Fees and Budget. The CBE sets System Fees (lunchroom & CBE transportation); however, School Fees are assigned to parents to support the enhancement of learning. At the meeting, we’d love to hear your ideas and input regarding residences and your priorities around School Fees (field trips etc.). As always, we are so grateful at Sibbald to have a generous and supportive Parent Association that covers many costs and reduces school fees for parents.
Andrew Sibbald Parent Association Needs Your Help!
Parents, please consider taking on the role of Casino Coordinator, as the Andrew Sibbald Parent Association needs someone to step into this role as soon as possible. Did you know that the Casino fundraiser brings in roughly $60 000 for our school, which is then spent over an 18-month period? This fundraiser is significant and raises funds for school technology (iPads, Chromebooks, robotics), residencies, Learning Commons materials and much more.
Our school’s next casino is scheduled for Q4 2025. The Casino Coordinator will lead volunteer organization and work with the Casino staff around duties assigned to volunteers. Please reach out to me if you are interested so I can get you in touch with the right people!
Parent Association Update – Ongoing Fundraisers
Pedalheads Fundraiser Reminder – please see our flyer for our latest fundraiser for new Learning Commons furniture.
Did you know that Skip the Depot will pick up your bottles and cans right from your home and donate the funds to the Andrew Sibbald Parent Association? Please see here for more information.
Student Voice Bake Sale – Wednesday & Thursday
Thank you to our Grades 4 and 5 student voice members who have selected their next project in support of animal rescue societies in Alberta. Students will be hosting bake sales on Wednesday and Thursday this week. Proceeds raised will go to AARCS (Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society). All items at the bake sale will be $1.00 or $2.00. If you’re able to send along a Loonie or Toonie with your child to support this fundraiser this week, it would be appreciated. Students will have a scheduled time with their class to pop by over the two days. Thank you to all the families donating goods to our bake sale.
