Monday Morning Message
Dear Andrew Sibbald School families,
There have been lots of events and updates for our school. In addition to the recent announcement of our new Principal, recently we said farewell to one of our grade 3 teachers, Mrs. Braun and welcomed our newest member to our school and to the profession. Miss Kate Herget is our new grade three teacher. She is a UofA grad and since moving to Calgary she has been subbing in a variety of schools. Through the interview process, Miss Herget demonstrated the skills and passion for working with children that we are looking for at Andrew Sibbald. She has been working with Mrs. Braun for the past two days and will be assuming the full-time role on Monday. Please join me in welcoming Miss Herget!

CBE Family Literacy Week
Last week we sent a number of resources for families to access to celebrate and promote literacy. Those resources are still available through the links below
The CBE Literacy & Early Learning Team has prepared a variety of information and activities to help families engage in meaningful learning at home and at school. Reading together or doing learning activities at home is crucial to a child’s learning and development.
Here’s how families can participate:
CBE At-home activities and resources : Find ways to make learning fun and impactful.
Calgary Public Library Family Reading Pick: A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle, featuring a family reading adventure with a live performance and themed activities.
Family Literacy Day at-home activities and resources : Engage in other literacy-related activities as a family
Andrew Sibbald School Council / Parent Association News
Our Andrew Sibbald School Council and Parent Association continue to do amazing work to support our children and staff. We’ve discovered the need to consider an amendment to the Parent Association bylaws that requires us to call for Special General Meeting. In addition to this Special General Meeting, our new Principal, Mrs. Kaiser, will be joining to meet parents and become more familiar with the work of council and association.
Grade 4 Parent Survey – every year parents of students in grade 4, 7, and 10 are encouraged to participate in a survey – the Alberta Education and Childcare Assurance Survey (AECAS). Parents of grade 4 students in our school should have recently received an email to invite their participation and provide their thoughts on how our school is doing on a variety of measures. Grade 4 parents, I encourage you to share your thoughts about Andrew Sibblad school so that we can better understand your perspectives. Following is a link to our website where we have posted more information.
