Dear Andrew Sibbald Families,

This week, teachers will be emailing or sending hard copies of our Andrew Sibbald Scope and Sequence documents home, which outline essential learning outcomes for reporting period two. We hope that these documents help inform you as parents of specific skills, processes, and concepts that will be taught and assessed between February and June. Within the classroom, all learning outcomes are distinctively broken down into meaningful learning intentions for students. Most often, learning intentions are designed by teachers based on pre-assessments and assessment that is on-going (we design learning based on what the students already know and what they learn throughout). Further, we know that children learn best when given multiple opportunities to engage in learning intentions; that learning is recursive; and that students learn and develop at different rates. In no way does this scope & sequence reflect a “list” of learning beginning to end. As always, please reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions, concerns, or celebrations.

Grades 1, 2 and 3 Puppetry Residency begins this week

Our Grades 1, 2 and 3 students and teachers are excited to begin their work this week with WP Puppet Theatre. Students will be working to create puppets using a variety of materials based on anchor texts selected by classroom teachers around wellbeing outcomes from the Curriculum. Stay tuned for more information and learning updates! Thank you to our amazing Andrew Sibbald Parent Association for covering the cost of this learning experience.

School Council Meeting – This Wednesday at 7:00

Parents, please join us this Wednesday evening for our School Council meeting inside the learning commons. We look forward to sharing a Teacher Report from our Gr. 4 teachers and some information around our Mathematics learning in our School Development Plan. An agenda will be emailed out to parents in advance.
