Dear Andrew Sibbald Families,

Gong Xi Fa Cai! Wishing all families celebrating Lunar New Year this week a wonderful year ahead full of prosperity and success.

Thank you to the parents who contributed to the Staff and Teacher Appreciation last week. The healthy snacks were enjoyed by all!

Report Cards Available through PowerSchool

Parents, please view your child’s report card here. Teachers look forward to connecting with you for Parent Teacher Conferences in March and will be sharing updated Scope and Sequence Learning Documents with families in February. These documents outline the learning outcomes that will be taught and assessed during the second reporting period of the school year.

Family Literacy Week 2025

The Calgary Board of Education will celebrate Family Literacy Week from January 26th to February 2nd to raise awareness about the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family. The theme of this year's Literacy Week is Learn to Be Green – Together, emphasizing the importance of nurturing both our planet and our community. Please see here for some awesome ideas for your family.

Student Voice: Bell, Let’s Talk Presentations

We are grateful to the Gr. 5 students from Student Voice who helped share information and highlight the importance of student mental health last week. Please the news story (info and images) to see some of this learning in action at Sibbald.

Extended Absence Forms for Families

Regular attendance is essential for learning and overall success in school. When students have extended absences (those longer than a week), parents are asked to complete the CBE’s Extended Absence Form. This helps confirm that we are fulfilling our responsibility as a school to ensure that parents are aware of the impact absences have on student learning. Thank you for your continued communication with the office and your child’s teacher, when you know of planned holidays. As always, we appreciate your partnership in supporting your child’s education.

Alien Inline Skating Continues

We hope the first week of Alien Inline Skating went well for your child/ren! Students demonstrated both awesome perseverance and ability in learning and practicing this skill. We look forward to another week. Again – thank you to the Andrew Sibbald Parent Association for covering the cost of this experience for all Andrew Sibbald students.
