Dear Andrew Sibbald Families,
It’s another busy week ahead with our Grades 4, 5 and 6 students participating in the Ski at School program and our Grade 2 students off to Telus Spark. Thank you to our Andrew Sibbald Parent Association for subsidizing the cost of the cross-country skiing for families and thank you to the parents volunteering to help support the Grade 2 students on their off-site learning experience this week. The cross-country skiing track has been set and we ask that all family and community members stay off the track on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Thank you!
Alberta Education Assurance Survey – Gr. 4 Parents
Every year, Alberta Education relies on parents to share feedback by completing the Alberta Education Assurance Survey. Gr. 4 parents and guardians receive a survey invitation package by mail and can complete the survey on paper or online using the provided Random Access Code (RAC). Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete the survey on behalf of Andrew Sibbald School. Your voice matters!
Report cards available – Tuesday
Parents, please access your child’s report card through your MyCBE PowerSchool account on January 30th. Teachers look forward to the next opportunity for formal communication in March for Parent Teacher Conferences. Ongoing communication is important, and we encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher at any point with celebrations, questions, and concerns.
Thank you, Knowledge Keeper, Hal Eagletail
We were grateful to have Hal Eagletail join us last week at Andrew Sibbald. Students had an opportunity to hear stories and gain knowledge about the land and all that it teaches us. Staff also enjoyed the opportunity to listen with open hearts and open minds within the classrooms. Hal shared beautiful songs on his drum and connected with students who laughed, asked questions, and were wonderful and respectful with our honored guest. We look forward to continuing our relationship and inviting Hal Eagletail back to Andrew Sibbald in the Spring. Please see Mrs. Patry’s blog for some more insights into the Grade 4 student’s learning before, during and after their visit.
Valentine’s Day – February 14th
Celebrating the themes of friendship and belonging, through the sharing of Valentine’s cards at school is a fun and important tradition to some families. At Andrew Sibbald School on February 14th, teachers will set aside some time in the afternoon for students who wish to distribute Valentine’s cards for the class. There will be no classroom parties or sharing of food during this time. We are grateful to the parents who organize our ‘fun lunches’ and ‘fun snacks’ who have pre-arranged a special ‘fun snack’ this day.
