Celebrating Rock Your Locks

Last Friday, we hosted our 20th annual Kids Cancer Care Event – Rock Your Locks.  With a packed house, we celebrated as 49 brave kids either shaved or cut their hair while another 130+ chose to rock their locks with color!  After all the hair had hit the floor (and there was lots of it!), we raised over $58 000. Special guest, Christine McIvor (founder of Kids Cancer Care) shared that Andrew Sibbald raised over $750 000 over the past 20 years.  As we reflect on the incredible journey of our 20-year fundraising event for children battling cancer, our hearts overflow with much gratitude. Each year, this community has shown unwavering support, embodying the true spirit of generosity and compassion. Thank you again for your commitment to this event. Together, we are making miracles happen.

School Council Meeting – This Wednesday @ 7:00 p.m.

Please join us in our Learning Commons at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening for our final School Council and Parent Association Meetings of the year. Our Grade 5 teachers will be sharing the Teacher Report. We look forward to seeing you then.

Lacrosse Residency

Our lacrosse residency ran Monday to Thursday last week and was a success, as students gained skills, participated fully and were excited to engage.  Elev8 Lacrosse sent us home-grown talent to lead this residency. Dan Taylor of the Calgary Roughnecks attended Andrew Sibbald School as a student and was pumped to return to work with our awesome students.  Once again, thank you to our Parent Association for their support of this residency!

School-Wide Spirit & Events This Week

Throughout the week, classroom teachers will be hosting ‘Classroom Talent Shows’ to celebrate the talents of those students who would like to share within their classroom community. The names of two students will be sent along to participate in our School-Wide Talent Show on June 24th.

Students will also be participating in the Sibbald Summer Games during Phys Ed this week.  Students will have the chance to try out different Olympic-themed activities and games culminating in a larger event on Friday.  Thank you in advance to our grade 5 and 6 student volunteers who will be running and supporting this event for our school!

Lastly, students and staff are all invited to wear their favorite sports jersey on Thursday for "Jersey Day"!
