Dear Andrew Sibbald Families,

As we enter the month of June, we wish to extend a huge thank you to those who have contributed to the Staff Appreciation monthly treats and snacks. They have been enjoyed throughout the year. Huge thanks, as well, to our Learning Grounds coordinator Sarah and all the awesome parents and kids who came out on Saturday morning to help spread wood chips, weed, and prune and help take care of this important space. We’d also like to extend our thanks to the Gr. 1 and Gr. 4 families who came to celebrate their children’s learning last week. Grade 1 parents, we couldn’t have done City Hall School without your support and volunteer hours. Gr. 4 parents, we hope you were as impressed with your child’s food truck designs and prototypes as we were!

Mount Royal Math Contest – Way to Represent, Sibbald!

This year we had 77 Gr. 4 & 5 students participate in the Mount Royal Math Contest.  Of those, we had several students place in the top 25% of the 2100 students across Calgary that participated. Thank you to Mrs. Sampson for organizing this year’s event!

Sibbald’s Got Talent!

On Friday morning we will be celebrating some of the amazing talent of our students. Parents, if your child is performing and you’d like to come, please arrive for 9:45. Congrats to all students who came forward to share in front of their classes and to those who were selected to showcase their talents in front of the school. Thanks to Ms. Harris, Mrs. Sampson and our Student Voice crew for helping us organize this for our school.

Celebrating our AMA Patrols this Week

Huge thank you to Ms. Chen, Mrs. Sampson, Miss Hirsche and Ms. Harris for their support of our AMA Patrol teams this year! We are incredibly proud of our Gr. 5 student AMA Patrols at Andrew Sibbald. They have shown leadership and responsibility in their duties. This week, they will join several hundred other students at Heritage Park to celebrate. Thanks to our Andrew Sibbald Parent Association for covering the cost of bussing and ride bracelets for all student patrols.

Jersey Day – Tuesday

Our Student Voice group has organized a Spirit Day this week. All staff and students are invited to wear their favorite sports jerseys, if they wish. We are grateful to our Student Voice group members who have been sharing important messaging to all our students around the importance of respectful and inclusive language for all students who choose to represent their favorite teams by wearing their favorite jerseys.

Upcoming Lacrosse Residency

On June 9 – 12th, Elev8 Lacrosse will be here to work with our teachers and students. Thank you to our Andrew Sibbald Parent Association for covering the cost of this experience for all our students. Students will be participating as a part of their Phys Ed block.

2025-26 Yellow School Bus Registration

Families must register for transportation by Sunday, June 22, 2025, for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year.

CBE Transportation will continue to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing bus stop with available space. Processing times for registrations submitted after the June 22 deadline will be delayed. Confirmed routes are posted in late August. For those who register after the June 22 deadline, it may take until mid-October before those students are able to ride the bus. Transportation can be cancelled with no financial impact by submitting the cancellation form by Sept. 30, 2025.

The proposed fees for transportation service for the 2025-26 school year are as follows:

  • $360/year for those students designated to yellow school bus transportation
  • $180/year for one-way kindergarten transportation
