Dear Andrew Sibbald Families,

Thank you to the parents and family members who joined us for our school-wide talent show last Friday. We hope you enjoyed the wide range of wonderful talent showcased as much as we did. The student performers were amazing, and we were all so proud of the students for their respectful and supportive audience participation. The Gr. 4 & 5 Student Voice members did an awesome job organizing and leading this year’s talent show. Thank you also to Ms. Harris for her organization and preparations.

Student Transition Planning

Parents and guardians, please note that our support staff, teachers and our Admin Team have been thoughtfully planning for student transitions and will continue to do so over the coming weeks. Students supported through IPPs will have personalized transition plans documented on their IPPs (coming home for review on June 16th).

All students will have an opportunity to work with their current teachers to look ahead to next year. Teachers are awesome in supporting these transitions by honoring student’s feelings and providing reassurance around the process through a range of age-appropriate tasks and activities. Please continue to reach out to your child’s teacher or us in the office, with any questions or concerns. Grade 5 student transitions to Nickle are also underway and we expect last week’s tour was both reassuring and exciting for students! We have several new families transitioning to Andrew Sibbald next year that we look forward to welcoming in the fall.

As previously noted, you will receive an email from your child’s teacher for the 2025-26 school year after August 27th. We encourage all families to attend our drop-in Open House on August 29th (afternoon). Please also keep an eye on our website for other important updates & announcements.

Lacrosse Residency this Week

On June 9 – 12th, Elev8 Lacrosse will be here to work with our teachers and students. Thank you to our Andrew Sibbald Parent Association for covering the cost of this experience for all of our students. Students will have an opportunity to learn about the game of lacrosse and develop their skills in this traditional Indigenous game from a member of the Calgary Roughnecks.

School Council Meeting – Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.

Parents and guardians, please join us this Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. inside our school’s learning commons for our last School Council Meeting of the 2024-25 school year. We look forward to seeing you then!

Parent Association Hosted Pancake Breakfast - Please Volunteer!

This will be Sibbald’s third annual Parent Association hosted pancake breakfast, supported by the Calgary Stampede’s Caravan. If you’re able to volunteer the morning of Tuesday, June 17th and have confirmation from Andrew Sibbald School that your police clearance is valid and up to date, please sign up here. If you have any questions for the parents organizing, please complete the form included in the link. This pancake breakfast is always a lot of fun for our students. Thank you to our Parent Association for supporting this!

Learning Commons Wrap Up – Please Return all Books

Mrs. Norman is working to ensure our book collection is organized and ready for another school year over the next few weeks. Parents, please help your child return all library books to school this week. Thank you! We are grateful to Mrs. Norman and our parent volunteers’ support in refreshing our school’s collection of picture books and novels all purchased through funds from Parent Association and the money raised through the Scholastic Book Fair.

2025-26 Yellow School Bus Registration

Families must register for transportation by Sunday, June 22, 2025 for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year.

CBE Transportation will continue to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing bus stop with available space. Processing times for registrations submitted after the June 22 deadline will be delayed. Confirmed routes are posted in late August. For those who register after the June 22 deadline, it may take until mid-October before those students are able to ride the bus. Transportation can be cancelled with no financial impact by submitting the cancellation form by Sept. 30, 2025.

The proposed fees for transportation service for the 2025-26 school year are as follows:

  • $360/year for those students designated to yellow school bus transportation
  • $180/year for one-way kindergarten transportation
