Volunteer Tea – Thank You!

Thank you to those who were able to join us for the Volunteer Tea last Friday. We hope you enjoyed the entertainment and opportunity to connect with each other. If you were one of the volunteers in Grade 3 last week who attended the Ann and Sandy Cross field trip, thank you! Please see Mrs. Braun’s and Mrs. Swanson’s blogs to check out some of this learning.

Andrew Sibbald’s School Mural – Complete

Our school mural is now complete and is displayed inside our gymnasium on the stage doors. Our mural was inspired by the question, “How does art inspire a community?” Input from parents, students and staff was gathered to inform the design. This included suggestions around the important words, ideas and images that represent Andrew Sibbald School. We asked students for feedback after the first mock-up was provided, which informed the next iteration. We are grateful to Justin Travis at Wallart Inc. and CBE Facilities for their collaboration with us around this project. We are also grateful to our Parent Association for supporting our mural project! Thank you for helping us bring this to life. You can check out some of the student’s learning, reflections and the process around the mural here and here!

Celebrations of Learning this Week

We are very excited to be welcoming our Grade 1 and Grade 4 families to the school this week to celebrate some of the awesome student learning that has been happening. Grade 4 families will join us for 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon. Doors will open at 12:30. Please make your way into the gym. Grade 1 families are invited to come Wednesday morning (doors will open at 8:45). At that time, please make your way down to Mrs. Kosior’s classroom. Thank you!

2025-26 Planning Continues

Our Grade Configurations at Andrew Sibbald for the 2025-26 school year are tentatively set as the following:

Kindergarten (two alternating classes)

Grade 1 (two classes)

Grade 2 (two classes)

Grade 3 (three classes)

Grade 4 (two classes)

Grade 5 (two classes)

Class configurations are always finalized in the fall, once student numbers have been accounted for and funding is received.

Teaching assignments for the grades and classrooms will not be confirmed until August, when CBE staffing is complete. As in previous years, families will know who their child’s classroom teacher is in August 2025. Families will receive an email from the teacher welcoming students into their classroom community. Please note – we will host our drop-in Open House on Friday, August 29th. This is a great chance for you and your child to pop by to see the learning space and meet your child’s teacher. The first day of school for students is Tuesday, September 2nd.

2025-26 Yellow School Bus Registration

Families must register for transportation by Sunday, June 22, 2025 for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year.

CBE Transportation will continue to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing bus stop with available space. Processing times for registrations submitted after the June 22 deadline will be delayed. Confirmed routes are posted in late August. For those who register after the June 22 deadline, it may take until mid-October before those students are able to ride the bus. Transportation can be cancelled with no financial impact by submitting the cancellation form by Sept. 30, 2025.

The proposed fees for transportation service for the 2025-26 school year are as follows:

  • $360/year for those students designated to yellow school bus transportation
  • $180/year for one-way kindergarten transportation

Final Fun Lunch for the Year

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped organize fun lunch this year for our students. The deadline to order for the final Fun Lunch (Boardwalk Burgers on June 2nd) is Wednesday May 28th.

Fundraising Casino Dates Booked for 2025 – Please Save the Date!

Parent Association has worked to secure a casino fundraiser for Andrew Sibbald School on November 17th and 18th, 2025. This is our school’s biggest and most important fundraiser, as close to $60 000 is raised. These funds are used to purchase technology, artist-in-residence programs, cover the cost of bussing etc. Several volunteer positions will be required to be filled for the fundraiser and a small handful of volunteers are needed.
