Dear Andrew Sibbald Families,

Thank you to the parents who will be joining the Kindergarten and Grade Two students this week during their off-site learning experiences. We are grateful to have so many amazing volunteers. We are also grateful for the generosity of the Andrew Sibbald Parent Association covering the cost of bussing for every classroom once this year.

School Council & Parent Association Meetings

Please join us on November 27th at 7:00 pm inside our school’s learning commons for our School Council Meeting. Kindergarten teacher, Ms. Hayes, and Grade Four teachers Mrs. Pols and Mrs. Patry will be sharing teacher reports.

Warm Feet, Warm Hearts Campaign

Our Kindergarten and Grade 3 students have begun their work in leading our school’s participation in The Mustard Seed’s donation drive to support Calgarians impacted by homelessness. The students will hear from a guest speaker from the Mustard Seed this week as they begin to organize this school-wide campaign. Please watch for an email and hard copy letter coming home soon to learn how you and your family can contribute and donate throughout December. Thank you to Ms. Hayes, Mrs. Braun & Mrs. Swanson for their leadership around this important learning for our students and school community. Please see examples of some of the student learning here: https://mrsjoswanson.blogspot.com/ and here https://kinderplayabc123.blogspot.com/2024/11/november-15-2024.html

Important Message from Patrol Supervisors

Dear Parents,

Firstly, thank you for your patience at the crosswalk. Our patrollers have worked hard this past month, and we are so proud of their efforts. Students have stepped up into their role as patrollers and they have shown great leadership at the crosswalk.

We would like to ask that parents crossing with their child to please wait for the crossing procedure signal before proceeding into the crosswalk. Patrollers will:

  1. Call  "Point"
  2. Call  "Double Check"
  3. Call "Proceed" and they will lower their inside arm

*This is the cue for pedestrians to cross. Please wait for this signal before crossing.

Patrollers will be going to each classroom to review these procedures as well.

We would also like to remind parents about the following regarding parking around the crosswalk, as visibility is important for our patrollers' safety and their ability to perform their duties.

-Leave 5 metres between your car and any crosswalk markings. This will ensure children are visible when they enter the crosswalk

-Park at least 5 metres from stop signs, yield signs or intersections so that you can clearly see any children in the area

We appreciate your patience and understanding. Crosswalk safety is of utmost importance, and we appreciate your support with this as well.

Thank you,

Mrs. Sampson, Ms. Harris and Ms. Chen
