Dear Andrew Sibbald Families,

We hope you are enjoying this winter wonderland! Thank you for your support in sending lots of awesome winter gear with your students last week. Snow pants, winter boots and warm jackets sure help students to be able to have fun and stay warm in the snow. If you can label your child’s items, we will certainly do our best to get them returned, if they get misplaced inside the school.

School Council Meeting – Wed @ 7:00

Thank you for joining us this Wednesday evening. Our Kindergarten and Grade 4 Teachers will be sharing a Teacher Report. The Andrew Sibbald Parent Association Meeting will take place directly after the School Council Meeting.  We look forward to seeing you then!

Social Action & Citizenship at Sibbald

Our Kindergarten, Grade 3 and Student Voice members in Grades 4 and 5 participated in a presentation from The Mustard Seed last week. There, students heard about how they can help Calgarians impacted by homelessness, poverty, and food insecurity. Specifically, students learned about using respectful (“people first”) language, becoming informed and donating items to clients of The Mustard Seed. Students were also given information about the importance of healthy food donations for the clients of The Mustard Seed. Thank you to Ms. Hayes, Mrs. Swanson, and Mrs. Braun for organizing this for our students. Please see the information coming home this week including a wish list of items being collected the week of Dec 2-6. Thank you in advance for your contributions!

Time to Cook with Student Voice

Thank you to the families who have students in Student Voice and have helped their student submit a family recipe for our cookbook titled, "Time to Cook with Student Voice". We are getting quite a collection and look forward to seeing this come together! We hope to be able to sell copies of the cookbook to fundraise for the Mustard Seed and honor how food made with care is an important part of health and wellbeing in our community. Stay tuned for more information.

Student Voice Spirit Days

Our Student Voice group has been hard at work organizing 'Spirit Days' throughout the year. The first will be held on Thursday this week. Dress Like A Teacher Spirit Day will be held on Thursday, November 28th. This is a fun spirit day where students are invited to dress like a teacher or principal in our school.  If you don't have a specific person in mind, you can dress as you think a teacher/principal might dress.
