Monday Message: November 3rd

Dear Andrew Sibbald Families,

We hope your Halloween was delightful. We had an awesome time seeing the creativity and efforts of student's costumes on Friday. We also hope you enjoyed watching the Blue Jays over the weekend. It was sure too bad about game seven but what an amazing World Series!

Again, I want to thank all our Andrew Sibbald families and acknowledge the challenges that your families faced over the past weeks. As I noted last week, we are all so glad to return to our students and we are also so grateful for your unwavering support. Andrew Sibbald is an amazing community, and we are grateful to you as partners in your children’s’ learning.

Last Friday afternoon during our Professional Learning time, we worked diligently to focus and prioritize learning outcomes over the coming weeks. Please keep an eye on the classroom blogs to stay informed around learning your child is engaged in.

School Development Plan – 2025-26

Our School Development Plan for the current school year is entering “Year Two” of a 3-year cycle. Before the end of November, our school website will include the updated School Results Reporting document as well as our new School Development Plan. We continue to focus on procedural fluency in mathematics (to support efficiency in problem solving) as well as writing as our Learning Excellence goals. We are incredibly proud of the results that student achievement & perception data has revealed for the 2024-25 school year.

IPPs

If your child’s learning is supported through an Individual Program Plan, it will be sent home later this week. Thank you for your Parent Perspective notes and reflections previously gathered. Please note that when provided, these are captured on the IPP documents. Individual Program Plans are updated throughout the year, and they are aligned to the report card. Once you review, please return the signature page. If you would like to meet with your child’s teacher before signing, please email them directly to schedule a time to do so.

Remembrance Day Honoring & Observation – Lest We Forget

Remembrance Day honoring and its observation will be taken up throughout the upcoming week. Teachers do an excellent job teaching about the observation of this important date through developmentally age-appropriate learning activities. Remembrance Day is on Tuesday, November 11th and is a federal statutory holiday marking the end of World War One. Saturday, November 8th is National Aboriginal Veterans Day, observed in recognition of Indigenous contributions to the First and Second World Wars and the Korean War. Students will all receive poppies and together engage in the singing of O Canada, listen to the Last Post, and complete a moment of silence as a school community.

School Council & Parent Association Meetings – 6:30 pm on Tuesday

Parents, please join us in the learning commons at 6:30 on Tuesday, November 4th for our School Council Meeting. The Parent Association will meet directly after. We will be highlighting some of our school results reporting and the upcoming school experiences for students. Parent Association will meet directly after the Council meeting.

Huge shout out to the amazing volunteers who are both leading and participating in the Casino fundraiser! It’s a game-changer for the school – the amount of learning enhancements & technology purchases that are made available through this fundraising event is paramount. Thank you!

Message from Parent Association:
