Interested in Learning More about the Science of Reading?
Our Grade 1 team will be sharing some information at our School Council Meeting on Wednesday evening around evidenced-based reading practices. We are proud of our teacher’s investment in utilizing best practices to foster a love of reading while building student’s skills, knowledge, and curiosity as they begin to see themselves as readers and writers. Our Grade 1 and 2 teachers will be sending home some important information around how Home Literacy can be supported by you as parents. This is an informative video for all families and tutors. Literacy instruction at Andrew Sibbald School is guided by the CBE’s Literacy FrameworkCBE’s Literacy Framework.
School Council Meeting – Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
Please join us for our School Council Meeting on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. inside our school’s Learning Commons. The Grade 1 Team will be sharing some of their learning inside the classroom and information about Home Literacy practices at Andrew Sibbald. An agenda for the School Council Meeting and Parent Association Meeting will be emailed to all parents and guardians.
Halloween on Tuesday
Thank you to the families who supported the Parent Association hosted dance last Thursday evening. It was a lot of fun! Students are welcome to wear their costumes to school on Tuesday; however, please note that students will be engaging in all typical learning activities and playing outdoors and inside the gym. Thank you for keeping the scary masks and weapons at home for trick-or-treating. A fun snack has been organized by parents through Healthy Hunger and there will be no sharing of treats or classroom parties. On behalf of our staff, Happy Halloween!
No AMA Safety Patrols at the Crosswalk Wednesday – Friday
Our Grade 6 students and teachers will be heading off to Camp Chief Hector Wednesday – Friday this week, so there will be no student patrols at the crosswalk.
