Dear Sibbald Families,
Here’s hoping you have enjoyed this beautiful fall weather, and your families are settling into the routines of back-to-school and other fall activities. It’s always a busy time of year and we are grateful for the ways in which teachers and our support staff have created learning communities with our students. There is excellent learning happening at Andrew Sibbald School and we hope you are enjoying seeing snapshots of this in the “take home folders” and classroom blogs.
Terry Fox Run – Thank you!
Thank you to the many family members that joined us and participated with their children during our school run. It was great to see so many of you. We would also like to thank everyone for their donations to our Toonies for Terry drive. Over $1100 was raised to support cancer research. Many of our classrooms connected our anchor text, “The Magical Yet” to Terry’s persistence and resilience with his Marathon of Hope. We are proud of their work and the grade five student leaders to helped organize this event.
Seed Survivor Arrives at Sibbald on Tuesday for Hands on Learning
Our grade 3 and 4 students will have the opportunity to participate in the Seed Survivor program on Tuesday. The Seed Survivor program teaches students about plants and the importance of agriculture. The program is held in a specialized trailer that arrives on site. Students will interact with exhibits and engage with hands on learning. You can learn more about the program here: Seed Survivor. Thank you to Mrs. Braun for organizing this learning for our students.
AMA Patrols – Students Present This Week
We’re very proud of the 40+ Gr. 5 students who have successfully completed their patrol training. Students will be present at our crosswalk with our patrol supervisors before and after school beginning Wednesday morning. Parents, we appreciate your extra patience as students “learn the job” out on the crosswalk. Lastly, thank you to the parents who choose safety over convivence and use the crosswalk with your children. It’s greatly appreciated.
