Dear Andrew Sibbald Families,

 Thank you to the parents who helped organize the family Halloween Dance last week. It was a great turn out and seemed like all had a lot of fun! We’d also like to thank our Gr. 5 Student Voice members who volunteered their time to sell treats throughout the night.

 On the 31st of October, students are welcome to wear their costumes (please leave all weapons and scary masks at home for trick-or-treating). It’s important to know that it’s a regular day of learning so students will still go outside for recess and do Phys Ed; therefore, please ensure your child’s costume is conducive for this activity. Our Parent Association has organized an optional fun snack for students that day through Healthy Hunger. There will be no classroom parties or sharing of food.

Parent Teacher Conferences – Thursday (4:00 – 7:30) and Friday (8:00 – 1:00)

Thank you to the parents & guardians who have already booked your scheduled 15-min conference time with your child’s teacher. Teachers look forward to sharing learning updates as well as looking ahead to next steps in learning progressions. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you are unable to attend. Outdoor Learning Opportunities... Snow is on the way!

Thank you to the parents who volunteered last week (and previously) to help our students be able to learn on the land down in Fish Creek Park. Teachers are also planning intentional outdoor learning activities in our learning grounds throughout the fall and winter months. Thank you for sending your child in labelled winter boots, snow pants, mitts, and toques to ensure they can play and learn comfortably outside.

Lunchtime Intramurals

Thank you to Mrs. Swanson and our Student Voice committee members who are organizing informal, drop-in, lunchtime intramurals in the gymnasium over the lunch hour on Mondays. Grade groups will rotate through the year. This is an opportunity for students to have fun, work as a team and engage in physical literacy & activity. It’s also a great opportunity for our older students to demonstrate leadership.

Photo Retakes – Thursday

If you would like your child to have their individual photo retaken on Thursday, please let them know so they are prepared, and your child’s teacher know. You can also email andrewsibbald@cbe.ab.ca to let our office know. This prevents students from being missed.

Scholastic Book Fair

Thank you to Mrs. Norman and the volunteers who are helping to organize our school’s Scholastic Book Fair on Thursday and Friday this week. Book Fair sales will take place during parent teacher conferences; however, students will have an opportunity to preview the books in advance with their classes. Last year, the book fair sales earned well over $2000 in Scholastic Book credits for our school library.

Volunteer Request

Mrs. Norman in our learning commons is looking for two volunteers to help with Book Fair sales from 4:00 – 7:00 pm this Thursday evening and one or two volunteers from 8:00 – 12:00 on Friday morning. If you are able to help, please email andrewsibbald@cbe.ab.ca and we will put you in touch with Mrs. Norman. Thank you!

Girls/Boys pants sized 6-12?

We are looking for clean donations of sweatpants and leggings (no jeans or cargos please) sized 6-12 for our school office. If your child has borrowed a pair this year and they haven’t yet made their way back, we’d appreciate it! Thank you.
