Good afternoon, parents & guardians,  

Thank you to the parents who joined us on Wednesday evening for our School Council and Parent Association meetings. We are pleased to let you know that all executive positions have been filled for the 2025-26 school year– thank you! Please see our website for all updated School Council & Parent Association meeting minutes.  

There was a great turnout for our Terry Fox Run! Our Grade 5 students and their teachers did an excellent job honoring this annual event. During the assembly, students shared their thoughtful reflections, which were inspiring. Terry is a true Canadian hero, and we are always grateful to come together as a community to honor his legacy. There were 1,449 student laps run! The “Toonies for Terry” fundraiser raised $1,034.60. Thank you for your generosity, Sibbald.   

Lastly, I want to extend a thank you to those parents who have shown support towards your child’s learning at Andrew Sibbald, and towards our teaching staff. Your words and actions of support and care have meant a lot, and we are all grateful for the Andrew Sibbald community.  

CBE Communication for Families throughout Labor Action  

Please note that all CBE teacher emails (including mine and Mrs. Bauman’s) will be suspended for the duration of labour action, which is expected to begin on Monday, October 6th. Our Andrew Sibbald office email (andrewsibbald@cbe.ab.ca) will remain in use.

Messaging from CBE – Cancellation of all Offsite & Onsite Activities  

The Calgary Board of Education has directed all schools to cancel scheduled in-school and off-site activities with external partners from Oct. 6-31.2025. While labour action may be resolved sooner, cancelling these activities enables schools to focus first on the resumption of learning after teachers are back in schools.  

Please note – we have already rescheduled the Calgary Flames Classroom Crew residency for May 2026, and our Fun Snack scheduled for October 31st which will now happen on November 21st. Further, we are in the process of rescheduling photo retake day, and the children’s author visit from Angela Murphy.

Casino Volunteers Needed 

Thank you to those who have already signed up! We have 16 volunteer shifts that still need to be filled for the November 17th and 18th Casino Fundraiser. During the strike, we will not be able to communicate with parents so if you are considering signing up, please do so this weekend!

Please note: You ARE allowed to volunteer at the Andrew Sibbald Casino event even if you are volunteering at a casino event for another school on a different day.
