Monday Message: September 8th

Dear Andrew Sibbald Families,

We hope the first week of school went well for your children and they are enjoying connecting with their teachers, new friends, or reconnecting with familiar ones! Mrs. Bauman and I are so proud of all the staff and students who are learning new routines and expectations within their classroom and school community. Parents, we appreciate all your help with supporting your children as they transition back to school. Please continue to reach out to your child’s teacher or to us in the office with any questions or concerns. Thanks for your help with labelling your children’s belongings – it’s helpful!

Please complete the following forms before September 15th (located within your MyCBE PowerSchool Account). This supports accurate funding for our school as well as ensuring we have the most up to date information about your child. Thank you!

  • Demographic Verification - 2025-26 – This required form is an Alberta Education requirement as proof of Registration for funding purposes and includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information.
  • Citizenship Information Update - 2025-26 – This form becomes available if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.
  • Annual Authorization - 2025-26 – Combines the following forms:
  • School District Use of Personal Information - explains how CBE uses personal information in providing education services.
  • Consent for CBE Use of Student Information – provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by school/district and third parties.
  • Consent for Use of Student Information by News Media and Outside Groups (Third Party) - provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by outside groups and third parties

School Council Meeting – This Tuesday Evening at 6:30

Did you know that all parents and guardians are automatically members of School Council? Please join us this Tuesday evening at 6:30 for our Annual General Meeting. School Council works in collaboration with the principal and school staff to help foster a supportive learning environment and create valuable learning opportunities for students. Parent Association is a formal group of parents, incorporated under the Societies Act for the purpose of raising funds for the school. More information can be found in our CBE Administrative Regulation 5001 – School Councils and School/Parent Societies. Positions for the School Council Executive and Parent Association Executive will be selected on Tuesday evening. We need your support, voice, and input for our school. Please consider taking on one of these important roles.

Meet the Teacher – September 18th

Parents, please stop by your child’s classroom on September 18th between 3:30 – 6:00 pm. Teachers look forward to seeing you and your child. ‘Meet the Teacher’ is an informal opportunity to see your child’s initial learning within the classroom and to become informed around the Scope and Sequence of learning outcomes assessed throughout the first reporting period. These will be available for parents to take home. Further, it’s a chance for you to share your own hopes, goals, and dreams for your child for the 2025-26 school year. Formal one-on-one Parent Teacher Interviews will take place in October.

Student Drop Off & Pick Up

Please note that the staff parking lot cannot be used for Rec House drop off any time after 7:40 a.m. and is never to be used for school drop off. It is unsafe for students and staff. There is short-term parking along Lake Bonavista Drive and along the side roads. Our AMA School Patrol team will get up and running in the coming weeks once they are trained. In the meantime, please use extra caution using the crosswalk. As per the City of Calgary, parents are not permitted to park within 5 meters of crosswalks.  Thank you for helping us ensure the safety of our students.

Potential Labour Action – Communication from CBE

As previously noted, we recognize the uncertainty of potential labour action may be challenging for families. We are committed to keeping families informed. Any new information will be shared with families and posted to our labour action page as soon as it is available.
