Dear Andrew Sibbald families,

With the equinox and spring break around the corner there is lots of excitement in our building! Teachers continue to keep our students busy with engaging lessons to ensure some wonderful learning opportunities.  A great focus I have observed is their work in math to further strengthen student’s procedural fluency. Through interactive activities, games, practice and ongoing assessment we are seeing positive gains in all grades for their addition, subtraction, multiplication and division abilities. This work directly links to our school development plan goals.

I would like to take a moment to mention safety at drop off and pick up times. The priority at these times is student safety, and we have had some emerging concerns, particularly in front of the school. This is a busy spot with patrols, bus zones and drop-offs/pick-ups etc.  We ask that families respect the city signage in front of the school and ensure they are parked when students are getting in and out of cars as dropping students off in the middle of the road adds to the congestion concern in this area.  The school parking lot should not be used for parents dropping off in the morning or picking up in the afternoon as students and parents walk through this area. We also ask that students cross the road at the designated crosswalk. I want to thank families and staff for all working together to support the safety of our school community.

Grade 5 parents, please note that school enrollment is based on address and for our Lake Bonavista families, Nickle School is our designated school for middle years. Their open house is on the evening of May 7, 2026. To further support the transition to middle school, students will have the opportunity to visit Nickle, and our teachers will be working closely with the Nickle staff to ensure a well-supported transition. We will share dates and details as we know them.
