Attendance Line: 403-777-6830 ext. 1 (available 24 hours)

If a child will be absent or late, parents are expected to email the school at andrewsibbald@cbe.ab.ca or phone the school attendance line before 8:15 AM.

Please leave a message on the attendance line, including child’s name, teacher’s name and reason for absence. If a reason is not given, students will be marked unexcused. Parents will be contacted if we have not received a message.

Your cooperation ensuring we receive timely information about school absences is important. Time spent calling families who do not call in their child’s absence may delay home and school in identifying and finding a child whose whereabouts are unknown.

When students arrive late, they will need to stop by the office to sign in and to get a late slip before going to class.

When parents pick up children at school during school hours, they are requested to do so at the office. All students leaving during school hours, need to be signed out. If students are leaving over lunch hour and normally stay for lunch, they will need to be signed out at the office. If your child is not to take the bus home, you can email andrewsibbald@cbe.ab.ca or come in and sign out at the office a few minutes before the bell rings.

Lates

Students are expected to arrive at school in time for the entry bell. Important instructional time is missed when students arrive late and timeliness is a life skill. We ask parents to help us teach this skill. The Alberta School Act requires that we work together to support children in this learning.

Attendance Expectations at the CBE

Regular and punctual attendance is foundational to student learning, academic achievement and long-term success. The CBE Administrative Regulation 6020 - Attendance of Students applies to all students, and outlines the responsibilities for students, parents and school staff.
