It was wonderful to see so many families at our Meet the Teacher event! Thank you for coming together as a community to start the year in a good way.
This week includes our picture days and our first fire drill.
The plan is for all classes to have their individual picture and class photo done on Monday. On Tuesday, the T/T kinder students will have their individual and class photos completed, and individual photos will be done for anyone who is absent on Monday.
Our first fire drill is planned for Tuesday afternoon. In CBE we are required to complete six fire drills and two lockdown drills throughout the year, as part of our safety preparedness plans. Some of our fire drills are announced; others are not. Both lockdown drills will be announced. Teachers will have students prepared for Tuesday’s drill by discussing expectations and routines.

Annual Demographics & Authorization Forms
Annual demographics forms are available on your myCBE account for students. It is a requirement that these are completed each year. The original deadline for completion was September 14. If you have not completed these forms for all your children, we ask that you do so ASAP. For further details and directions, families can refer to the August 31 email from Calgary Board of Education.
Provincial Screeners
As communicated earlier this week, grade 1-5 students are currently completing Literacy and Numeracy screeners set forth by the Alberta government. Results will be shared with families later in October. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher or Mrs. Kaiser.
Admirable Use Policy
Students will be given the Admirable Use Policy this week. It is a letter outlining responsible technology use here at school as well as expectations. Please review this policy with your child, sign, and return. This can also be viewed on the school website.
Terry Fox Run
We are pleased to announce that Andrew Sibbald School will be participating in the annual Terry Fox Run on Friday, October 9.
The Terry Fox Run is a wonderful opportunity for our students to come together as a school community while learning about Terry Fox, his incredible determination, and his dream to help others through cancer research.
This year, our school fundraising goal is $630! Every donation, big or small, helps us get closer to reaching our goal. We encourage families to support this important cause in whatever way they are able. Donations will be collected at school and through the online platform at, https://schools.terryfox.ca/137031 Donations will be collected until the end of the day on October 9.
On October 9, our whole school community will participate in the Terry Fox Run. We hope this will be a meaningful and positive experience as students learn about Terry's legacy and the impact that one person can have when they choose to make a difference.
