Dear Andrew Sibbald families,  

We are so excited to welcome student back to school this week! Teachers and staff have had a busy few days learning and planning together and teachers have been busy getting their spaces set to welcome students. Our focus for this school year is Joy and Resiliency; through the lens of our curriculum and well-being work, we are focused on building a positive community for all our learners.

Please note, that each week, I will send along an update with important dates and information for the school community. This year, the message will be called, Sibbald Says!


First Day Reminders:

  • Staff will be outside beginning at 7:50am
  • On both Monday and Tuesday, Kindergarten students will meet on the east side of the building (parking lot side)  
  • Grade 1-5 on the west side
  • Teachers will have a sign with their name on it, please find your teacher when you arrive
  • Bring your backpack, snack, lunch, water bottle and indoor shoes

Bell Times

Our bell times for the 2026-27 school year are:

Monday-Thursday: 8am-2:30pm

Friday: 8am-12pm

If your child is late for school, no matter the reason, they must come through the front door and check in at the main office. Otherwise, students will enter through their assigned door.


Office Hours

Our main office is open 7:30am-3pm, Monday to Thursday and 7:30am-12pm on Friday.


Safety | Reminders & Expectations

As we begin the school year, we would like to pass along some reminders and expectations:

  • A reminder of CBE’s Away for the Day policy for the use of personal mobile devices in school for K-9 students.  This policy requires that any device that connects to the internet (phones, smartwatches etc.) must be away (not carried on the student’s person). Students can choose to keep devices in their backpacks, secured with the teacher or secured in the main office. Teachers will be reviewing this with students.
  • Please adhere to the signage around the school regarding parking, crosswalks, bikes, scooters etc.  
  • The drop and go area at the front of our school is also our bus drop off/pick up zone. We would ask that parents give priority to the buses between 7:40-8am and 2:20-2:40pm.  There will be multiple buses this year, so we want to prioritize safe parking for these larger vehicles on our residential road.  
  • We ask families to please prioritize the safety of our school community at drop-off and pick-up. Please utilize crosswalks, do not double park, park in a safe/designated area and be patient with everyone.
  • For drop off and pick up, we also request that families DO NOT use our staff parking lot. This is an area where many families walk to access our entrances and it is safety concern.
  • Our grade 5 patrollers will begin their leadership role later in September. Until then, staff will be supervising and supporting at our front crosswalk in the morning and afternoon.
  • If students are riding a bike or scooter to school, we ask them to walk their bike or scooter on school property. Don’t forget a lock! Bike racks are on the east and west side of the school, but the scooter racks are just on the east side.


Communication | Google Classroom

Teachers will be utilizing Google Classroom with their students this year. It is through Google Classroom that they will also share highlights on what they have done each week. Please watch your inbox in the coming week for an invite to sign up for Guardian Email Summaries. Using your child’s login info, you can also utilize the Google Classroom app. This can be utilized for multiple children at the same time. Stay tuned for further details as teachers get these sites up and running.

Throughout each month, teachers will also take the opportunity to send homework samples and information about what your child is learning in class.

Teachers are your first point of contact with any questions or concerns.


Share | Administrative Regulations

The CBE asks that school administration share two administrative regulations (AR’s) with families. These guide our work, ,within the CBE and focus on Welcome, Caring, Respectful and Safe Learning and Work Environments and Progressive Discipline.
