Dear Andrew Sibbald families,

Welcome to the 2026-27 school year! I am excited to embark on this new year with a fantastic staff who are eager to welcome students for an amazing year of learning and adventure.

The main office is now open, and teachers are preparing for the school year by engaging in professional learning, collaborating with colleagues and setting up their classroom spaces.

The first day of school is Monday, August 31, 2026, with our Tuesday/Thursday Kindergarten students beginning on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. Your child’s teacher will be sending an email to you tomorrow afternoon, welcoming your child to their classroom, reviewing the plan for the first day of school and sharing some important reminders. If your child needs some extra support to begin the school year, they will be reaching out through a phone call to connect with you and your child prior to the first day. Please note, on August 31, grade 1-5 students will meet in the field on the west side of the school to meet their teachers, beginning at 7:50am. Our kindergarten students will meet on the east side of the school (parking lot side) both days.

While you will have opportunities to introduce yourself to your child’s teacher and meet them in the coming weeks, our official Meet the Teacher event on September 17 will be a chance to see their classroom and learn more about their daily routines. More information will be shared shortly.

Communication between families and the classroom teacher will be done via email and phone. Teachers will also share weekly highlights with families. I will be sending a weekly message to keep you up to date on upcoming events and important information about our school community. Our Andrew Sibbald website is also kept up to date with important details throughout the year.

Lastly, I would like to share some staffing news. Michelle Gordon, who has been an integral part of our staff, has accepted a new role at another CBE school. We wish her the best of luck!  With this change I would like to welcome back Mr. Tom Baril-Bissett as teacher.

Thank you for your continued support of our school community. If you are new to Andrew Sibbald, we welcome you and if you have been a part of our school, we welcome you back! I am looking forward to a fantastic year ahead, building community and opportunity for our students.

All the best,

Mary-Elizabeth Kaiser
